WATCH LIVE: Texas Lawmaker Wendy Davis Filibusters Restrictive Abortion Bill

Since 11:18 AM CDT, Sen. Wendy Davis (D-Fort Worth) has been filibustering against a bill passed over the weekend by Republicans in the state House that would effectively close all abortion clinics in the state. If she speaks for 13 hours (until midnight CDT), the special 30-day legislative session will end and prevent the bill from becoming law.

In a tweet last week, Lt. Governor David Dewhurst essentially admitted that the goal of Senate Bill 5 is to close all of the state’s abortion clinics.

Lewis has been reading letters from women all over Texas. “I want my voice to count,” one letter from “Martha” read.

Governor Rick Perry and Texas Republicans have been waging a war on Planned Parenthood that has cost the state hundreds of millions of dollars.
